The Sustainable Community Foundation of Orange County (SCF-OC) is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit corporation dedicated to improving the quality of life for the residents of Orange County. The focus and vision of SCF-OC is to support the development of the local community which we strive to achieve through our programs. Our organization has been at the service of the community since 2006 by sponsoring community food programs such as Certified Farmer’s Markets and providing scholarships to local students interested in public service careers.
The Garden Grove Farmers Market began on Garden Grove’s historic Main Street in August of 2006. When the Farmers Market on Main Street was in operation, it served multiple functions throughout the local community. First, the Farmers Market serves as a venue for the community to congregate in a safe friendly manner. Second, it provides an outlet for local vendors to bypass middlemen to bring fresh, locally grown goods to the market. In addition, the scholarship program awards scholarships to students who demonstrate a potential and passion for a career within the public policy sector, we try to reduce students’ economic burden in pursuing a career that ultimately gives back to the prosperity of the community.
