Board of Directors

Roland Chi, President and Executive Director
Roland holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from UCLA and has studied graduate courses in International Relations at UCSD. He is an active community and business leader. He currently serves as a Planning Commissioner for the City of Garden Grove and Field Representative for the California State Assembly. He grew up in the family’s specialty supermarket business, AR Supermarket located in Garden Grove. He has held a wide variety of positions there starting as a stock boy, cashier, janitor, delivery boy, Operations Manager, and currently serves as Vice-President.

Ryuzo Arima, Treasurer
Ryuzo holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Southern California. Currently, he is a program officer for the Muscular Dystrophy Association of Orange County. He has past experience working with David Horowitz at the Center for Popular Culture in Los Angeles. In addition, Ryuzo is an active community member and President of the Japanese American Republicans of Orange County.

Lawrence “Larry” Callahan, Director
Larry is the immediate past Chairman of the Garden Grove Planning Commission and has over 30 years experience as a carpenter, real estate salesperson, and tax consultant. He has been active in his local carpenter's union and serves on the Orange County Grand Jury Association. He has been active in the city of Garden Grove for many years.

Dina Nguyen, Esq., Secretary and Director
Dina serves as Commissioner of the Garden Grove Neighborhood and Parks Commission, and as Treasurer of the Orange County Vietnamese American Bar Association. She is a member of the California Bar Association and has served many years as a clerk with the Orange County Superior Court

Lan Q. Nguyen, Esq., Director and Co-Secretary
Lan is a member of and curently serves as President of the Garden Grove Unified School District Board of Education and will assist our education programs and general operations of our organization. Lan previously served as a Planning Commissioner for the City of Garden Grove. Lan holds a bachelor’s degree from UC Riverside and a J.D. from UC Hastings. He works as an attorney in our community.

Jay Park, Esq., Legal Counsel and Director
Jay was admitted to practice law in California in 1985 and is an activist in our local community. He is a Commissioner of the Orange County District Attorney Korean Community Advisory Commission. Jay will serve as Legal Counsel for our organization.

Dr. Sheldon “Shelly” Singer, Director
Shelly holds a bachelor’s degree and M.D., worked as an Optometrist in Garden Grove for over forty years. Dr. Singer was part of the founding committee that began the Garden Grove Strawberry Festival over forty five years ago. He has also served as president and/or member of the Kiwanis Club, Chamber of Commerce, Boys and Girls Club, Orange County Grand Jury Association, and Orange County Vector Control Board to name a few organizations.
